Introduction to Mend Hunger, A Free-From Food Pantry
While in Indianapolis two weekends ago, I had the honor of meeting part of the Chicago-based Mend Hunger team. Mend Hunger is "a nonprofit that works with food pantries to provide gluten free and allergy safe foods to individuals with a medically restricted diet and financial need."

As we all know, gluten-free and allergen-safe food costs significantly higher than "regular" food and this can be a financial burden for families. For those of us with multiple celiacs in the family, we know how expensive mealtime can be. Without access to safe foods parents and children are left to choose between health and hunger.

Mend Hunger partners with food pantries in Illinois to provide allergy and gluten free food at no-cost. Today, they serve the residents of more than 10 cities including Glencoe, Wilmette, Kenilworth, Winnetka, Glenview, Northbrook, Lincolnwood, Skokie, Niles, Golf and Morton Grove.

In order to help close the gap between hunger and health, Mend Hunger needs our support to continue providing this vital service to their Illinois neighbors. They are having a fundraiser on November 11th in Glencoe, Illinois.
